We can see the olives being processed at the local olive press. From ancient times the olive has been seen as a symbol of peace and prosperity, and in Halkidiki it is a vital part of the local economy. The Halkidiki olive is large and green, and is harvested both for the table and for oil. The village of Vrastama is surrounded by olive groves.
We will visit the sheep and goats in the fields and there will be an opportunity to milk them... the dairy where the cheese is made is just across the road and there will be visits to the cheese making process...
We visit the local distillery where the koumaro spirit is made. It is the arbutus fruit which is gathered on the hillside.
