Greece's medical plants are worldfamous. The climate is ideal for these plants, especially mountain slopes like the village of Vrastama. Lemon balm, sage, oregano and mountain tea all grow wild and the villagers gather them for their own use. During our hikes, local experts will help us to gather and identify the medical plants.

The crested lark and the hoopoe are commonly seen in the village in the summer months, and the nightingale can be heard frequently. Peregrine falcons can be seen both in winter and summer, and the hillside is full of wild tortoises.
